Pocket calculators

I remember my first pocket calculator… actually I don’t. I was just going to try and reminisce in the style of an old guy, but I don’t think it’s going to work.

I do vaguely remember my first pocket calculator, I could always do the adding up and taking away stuff, but I never worked out what all those strange scientific function keys were all about.

I recently bought my first pocket calculator for years. Up until then I had always used the calculator on my PC. It works well, but I eventually got to realise that – as long as I keep the office desk tidy – a real life desktop calculator is a lot quicker to grab hold of, than messing around locating the utilities folder on my Mac.

So there we have it. It’s not even a brand that I have heard of. When I was at school it always had to be a Casio or some other brand. But this calculator was about $5 and works. It has no scientific functions and is small and light. Works for me.

Anyway, this has got to be the most boring item of technology I have ever talked about. Digital cameras next. Now we are talking.
